I am in a private ongoing swap with Barb, Lucy and Glenda.. we are working our way through Kelsey O'mullanes book of ATC techniques.. this one is #39 Texture Paste

Denise Phillips regularly runs swaps from her Birdnuts Blog - this time was for a triptych of twinchies... using images from Crowabout Studio's... this is my submission....

Little travelling packets

Also on Paper Traders  - I took part in their 8th anniversary project - of an altered book reliquary, with the number 8 or 8 of something on it......

which ties into the words inside the front cover......

I am still working on the ArtQueens Textured Tags.. and am about to start a chipboard art doll for Paper Traders too.... and my collab book from the Arty Oz swap is on the way home... looking forward to seeing what everyone did :)..
What a difference a few months make...last year I had no arty mojo and I was sooooo over swaps.. not enjoying them... I took a good long break and am now totally loving them again :)

Sprays and Tip Ins

I recently got together with Glenda and Lucy and while Glenda made a new set of sprays, I added more pigment to those I had made earlier.

Originally my 'home made' sprays were made with the Tim Holtz distress re-inkers in the mini misters and perfect pearls added.. they worked ok.. but I wanted a more luscious, deeper colour.

Enter Luminarte Artist Pigments.. they are pure powdered pigment and they created the depth of colour I was looking for and they really do spray the colour you see in the bottle...not washed out like they were with just re-inkers.  As I am also currently in love the sprays, the mini misters no longer cut it for size and I ordered a larger size of spray bottles from eBay.

This is the new tip in page I made for a swap I am in.. its on its way to Ruth this week... I used the new sprays, a Tim Holtz stamp, Collections Tissue Paper.. cut the banners from a old book... flowers are drawn on with a white Posca pen... and finally added a quote.

I had seen these fab houses on Pinterest a while ago and decided to have ago making my own.  I finished off my 'big' house during the week with the roof... the roof lifts off and it holds 6x4 cards and tags... image of girl and duck is from a Ode to the Muse by Holliewood Design at Deviant Scrap... wheels by Tim Holtz/Ideaology

Stamps are by Dylusions... (my new addiction) and rub-ons by Kaisercraft

Retro Art Cafe Swap

Still motivated to join in swaps I signed up for the Retro Art Cafe Swap making Tombstone ATCs... we could use any images we liked, but must use the Masonite Tombstones as a base and in a  Halloween or Dia De Los Muertos theme

I used images from Hidden Vintage and Holliewood at Deviant Scrap and some I found online... these were fun to make and will be in the post back to Retro Art on Tuesday

Another swap on the way to the Canada is for Denise Phillips of Bird Nuts Mixed Media Halloween swap ...

ATCs and Tip Ins

I had put my name down for a few swaps lately.. and got stuck into them this weekend...

First cab off the rank was this tip in page for Art Queens... its going to Kasha.... little houses are Dylusions stamps... background stamps by Kaisercraft... texture to right is texture paste trowelled on through a grip mat with a lacy pattern.. smoke coming out of chimneys is the skin that had formed around the lid an side of my gloss varnish tub... I peeled it off and was about to throw it in the bin when inspriration struck... glued it to the page and coloured with paint....

On PaperTraders I am running a Good Witch/Bad Witch swap... players have to send three of each and will receive the same back... these are mine for the swap

And while Lucy and I were away last weekend we made these little houses... cut from MDF by Lucy's long suffering hubby (to our requests, not lucy.. then again....vbg).  This is the bigger house.. front view....inside is 6.5 inches x 4.5 inches... the idea is it will hold postcard sized technique cards.. for the moment it just has tools in it.  Images are from Finecrafted Design at Deviant Scrap.. wheels/feet from Ideology.

.  This is the back view of the big house

This is the small measures 4" x 3" on the inside and will hold completed  ATCs ready to post.

Houses were lined with a single layer paper napkin and varnished for durability, then put together and painted and embellished.  The feet on this one is little cotton reels stacked two high.

As always... comments and feedback most welcome :)

A weekend of Arting and Photos

I am still  unusually productive.. the mojo has moved in well and truly ... hopefully she decides to be a permanent resident here as I am loving going into my studio and getting messy with paint...and yes I get very messy.. I should start buying baby wipes in bulk I think as between using them for art wiping back paint from areas.. and cleaning my hands all the time I go through heaps in each session... (I know there is nothing wrong with painty hands.. but I hate pages sticking to me or transferring paint to where I dont it LOL)
Kilcunda and Inverloch

I am still working on my journal that I started last trip... have added photos to it from past trips....which is were the "weekend of arting and photo's" come it .. .we went away last weekend for a road trip down an iconic aussie road .. our goal was to 'do' the road, take pics and art at night and on wet days ...full post can be see HERE on our travel blog.
Hopetoun Falls, Otway Ranges

Journal pages were accomplished, ATCs made for upcoming swap, little boxes made to hold ATCs and photos for the journals.. and we made up a big batch of sprays using watercolour paints, mica pigments and ink... they arent as rich as dylusions but they serve their own purpose.. when I want a slightly more subtle colour with mica shimmer these will be perfect

Background complete - now to add photo and words

My returns from Marion's swap

I also recently went in Marion Bockelmans annual swap.... and received my returns back this week... very nice they are too... so glad I took part
Tech #38: Texture Paste
I am along with Lucy and friends, working my way through Kelsey's book of ATC techniques.. we are starting at the back as we are short on some of the requirements in the front.. by the time we get to them we will have the supplies we need

Tech #39: Texture Paste

Tech #40: Tissue Paper Backgrounds
And I also signed up for a PaperTraders swap... have to send them to the US so got them done quickly... will post them this week

More Journal Pages

I stepped away from the computer this afternoon and finished another two pages in my travel journal (I had been on the puter doing a blog hop for 'where bloggers create' which has been a load of fun... love seeing everyone else's art space and picking up ideas)

anyhow.. Journal pages... I had started the Point Nepean National Park one last week so I finished that off first..  Point Nepean is a stunning place located at the  tip of the Mornington Peninsula and has panoramic views of the Port Phillip Heads.  Cars arent allowed past a certain point and you either walk, cycle or take the 'transporter' ... which is basically a little series of open carriages pulled by a tractor.

The Fort was opened in 1802 and  is situated at the very tip has gun emplacements, tunnels, lookouts, observation posts (gawd it must have been freezing in winter and hot in summer).  We walked all over the place and even went down the 115 steps to the engine house.. getting back.. not so easy lol

then found the photo of a trip to Phillip Island that Lucy, DJ and I had taken so that was my next spread.
DJ was here last year for a series of classes (coming back in 2015) and we hopped down to Phillips Island for an overnight trip to see the Fairy Penguins and visit Churchill Island

I had a different visitor today keeping my company... Little Maggie saw the room was cat free and scoffed the chair...

and yes.. my desk got messy!

Where Bloggers Create 2013

I came across  'Where Bloggers Create 2013'by Karen Valentine on My Desert Cottage and seeing as how I had just had a complete studio make-over I decided to join in.

My space is not large.. in fact, after the 'loo its the smallest room of the house and I literally couldnt swing cat in there, but its big enough for what I need (thats not to say I wouldnt fill a bigger space given the opportunity lol) .. but its my little haven...
Don't even THINK about trying to swing me!

I had blogged about the initial make-over in this post but have added a couple of new units and tweaked since then.
Studio Door

I love the cube system, its easily re-configured and the fabric baskets hold a lot, neatly, and out of site
View as you walk in

Pillow in the corner near drawers is where the doggie sits while I am working :-)
I have added the two three high, two wide, cube units either side of the table. The left side of my desk is the paper side, jars of embellishments... cubes and drawers hold paper stuff, on the right side is the jewellery side.. fabric baskets hold chains (in individual ziplock bags), solder supplies, and tools,  jars of beads etc where I sit depends on what I am doing.  I moved all the messy stuff, along with the books into the wardrobe.
Messy, untidy stuff lol

Books and my Somerset Studio mags etc inside the built in robes

looking down the room with bookcases at my back
Fabric baskets hold chipboard, rub-ons and laces.  Oval tin holds little pads of 6x6 papers.

The glass bowl on the end table holds sand and shells that I have collected over a time from various beaches.

houses.. love little houses ... these are from swaps I took part in

Brushes sit on the desk in an assortment of tins, jar  and jug

Lazy susan with painted and decorated cans holding brushes and pens.. glass jar decorated with lace holds pearl buttons.  Little silver tins are from the Finnebar class and hold some of her goodies.

Table unit holds lots of stuff I use often.

Alcove behind my chair holds Kaisercraft wood drawers and cupboard, TV (music videos while I work) and drawers hold papers.

This is the first time I have joined the party.. and look forward to it again next year:-)

well, thats my space.. look forward to comments and seeing everyone else's :)
